WINTER BREAK
5 Best Winter Break Destinations | Student FinTech

Winter break in college is one of the most exciting times of the school year. Final exams are done, the first semester is behind you, and you get two weeks just to relax and de-stress! Many students go home during this time, but this year, why don’t you take advantage of the time off and use it to get a vacation in? Round up your friends and family, pack your suitcase, and check out these top winter break destinations.

Since prices are typically lower than in the busy summer months, winter is a great time to travel! Whether you’re looking for a sunny beach getaway or a ski trip to the mountains, here are some of the best places to travel to during winter break.

Florida Keys, U.S.

Want to get out of the cold? Head to the Florida Keys on the southern point of Florida, where the average winter temperatures are in the 70s! Between the sandy beaches and busy nightlife, you’ll have no shortage of entertainment in the Keys.

Yellowstone National Park, U.S.

Feeling outdoorsy? Go to Yellowstone this Christmas! Though most of the park roads close in November, you can still see the park on skis or guided snowmobile tours. You’ll avoid the overcrowded summer season, and what’s a better way to get in the holiday spirit than being in the snow-covered trees? When you’re done, stop in nearby Jackson Hole and get some skiing in!

Banff, Alberta

If you’ve got a winter wonderland on your mind, look no further than Banff. Located in the Canadian Rockies north of Montana, Banff is home to world-class skiing, hot springs, breathtaking lakes, and plenty of shops and restaurants to keep you entertained for a day in town!

Tulum, Mexico

December and January are popular months to visit Tulum as daily temperatures are in the 70s and 80s! If you want to relax, lounge on the famous white sandy beaches and watch sea turtles. If you want to sightsee, visit the Mayan ruins that date back to the 13th, 14th, and 15th centuries. (That counts as studying for that history class next semester, right?)

Cartagena, Columbia

Cartagena has become a hotspot over the past few years, and winter is an especially good time to visit! Located on the Caribbean coast, Cartagena is more affordable than other Caribbean destinations, and with warm weather, sandy beaches, bright coral reefs, and a historic old town, there’s something for everyone.

When does winter break start?

For most schools, winter break typically starts a few days before Christmas and ends during the first or second week of January. You’ll get plenty of time to enjoy the holidays, head to a nice winter break destination, and get ready for a busy semester ahead of you!
