You spend all week looking forward to the weekend, and before you know it, it’s flown by and it’s Monday all over again. It seems like you always have a list of things to do over the weekend, but somehow it goes by in a blur and all you’ve done is watch Netflix for two days straight. And hey, there’s no shame in that – everyone needs a weekend to relax and recharge every once in a while! But it can be hard to make the most of your weekend, so we decided to put together a list to get you started.
Make a Plan
One of the best parts of having days off is the potential for spontaneous plans, and you don’t have to change that! However, it does help to at least make some plans to keep you accountable. Whether you make a reservation for dinner with friends or set aside a few hours dedicated to cleaning your house, make some plans and stick to it!
Try Something New
Avoid getting into a weekend rut and try something new! Set a goal to make time for a new activity once a month. It could be anything from going to a new restaurant, taking a cooking class with friends, or driving to a nearby city for the day. Whatever it is, get out of your comfort zone!
Leave Time to Relax
Weekends should be time to relax, too. With a busy week full of school and work, it seems like we always leave a list of chores to do for the weekend. By the time the weekend comes, we’re too tired to get anything done, and that’s what the Netflix binge takes over. To combat this common routine, try to get some of your chores done during the week. Don’t overwhelm yourself with added tasks after school or work, but it does help to get one or two small chores done so you don’t feel so swamped over the weekend. Allow yourself for a little me time, and it’ll make what you do get done during your days off that much more rewarding!
Spend Time With Loved Ones
With hectic schedules and busy workweeks, it can be hard to keep in touch with friends and family during the week. Take advantage of the weekend to get in some quality time with the people you love most! Not only is it great to see your favorite people, but it’ll help you recharge and feel energized for another busy week ahead.
Let Go of the Sunday Scaries
Don’t let worrying about Monday ruin your Sundays! If you have a habit of getting the “Sunday Scaries,” try to do something fun on that day to take your mind off of the coming week. Cook a nice meal, watch a new movie, or spend time with family to enjoy the day.
